Hi everyone! My name is Rachel and this is my brand new blog about my knitting, my life as a traveling archaeologist, and anything else that strikes my fancy. I live in the Reno area and work all over northern and central Nevada which means I spend a lot of time on the road, and anytime I am a passenger I can be found knitting my time away! My ravelry name is RachelUnraveled so feel free to check me out there and I am also on twitter as RachelUnraveled. Now, you may be thinking that the name of my blog is a little egotistical, however let me assure you that I mean it only as a state of existence that I am striving to achieve with my knitting. I am a bit of a perfectionist and when I make a mistake, I much prefer to go back and fix it rather than just leave it. It drives me insane knowing that there is a mistake anywhere in a completed project! For example, I made my mom an afghan a few years ago when I was still a relatively new knitter. I mis-crossed a cable and didn't notice it until I was a dozen inches or so past it. Of course it was too late to go back and fix it, but now every time I visit I end up relocating the mistake and shaking my head in shame at myself. Silly, I know! Mom didn't even know it was there until I pointed it out!
Also, a quick shout out to Paula of the Knitting Pipeline podcast. A few months ago in a podcast she mentioned "stitch perfect" in reference to knitting each stitch in an object perfectly. It hit me that it would be the perfect name for a knitting blog I had been thinking about starting. So here we are, and thanks for the inspiration Paula!
In this blog I will share all the good, the bad and the ugly in my knitting (though hopefully not too much ugly!) as well as tidbits from my life traveling around Nevada doing archaeology. Stay tuned!
