Meet my new hand dyed yarn line: Unraveled Fingering! It is a 100% superwash merino wool and it comes in a 100 gram skein with a generous 425 yards! There are just 10 colors for now, but there will definitely be more to come! It is available at Jimmy Beans Wool, as well as in my Etsy shop.
I really wanted a cohesive color palette so that they can easily be used together in a project. All of the colors are derived from the same three base primaries as well as black so most of them work pretty well together. I designed the Ripple Effect Shawl in 3 colors of fingering weight yarn a few months ago and I am in the process of creating kits for the pattern. Those will be available soon! I also want to make kits for the Modicum Mitts pattern, and I think these 10 colors would make a really fun rainbow version!
My husband and I are pretty good about making conservation a priority in our house. We always use reusable grocery bags at the store and we recycle just about everything possible. For that reason, I also tried to keep waste to a minimum with my new yarn. Rather than printing the labels on paper, I used Spoonflower to make my own fabric with my logo and the yarn info. I had a little extra room so I also added a "Hand Made By" and "Hand Wash Lay Flat to Dry" tag that can be cut out and sewn into your knitwear. This way, at least part of the tag is reusable! You have to watch out for fraying with woven fabric, so I suggest cutting the tag with pinking shears. Or you can hand sew just inside the edge of the tag which will keep it from fraying beyond that point and give it a "distressed" look.
As a celebration of the opening of my Etsy shop, I'm offering everything in the store at 20% off!
