Join me for a virtual tour of Pioneer Yarn Company!
Located in the picturesque town of Minden, Nevada, Pioneer Yarn Company is a lovely little shop that’s packed full of wide selection of staple yarns! They also had several new to me items that I was excited to see and touch in person. They have a great space for knitting and socializing, and they also offer classes. If you’re in the area I definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out!
What I really loved about this shop:
They have a WALL of Shibui yarn! It is organized vertically by color, and horizontally by yarn base so you can easily mix and match in the signature Shibui style. Or use the lovely visual color palette to chose your colors for your next color work project!
They had gorgeous samples on display for many of their yarns, including the lovely Missioni Accomplished sweater in Fibre Company Acadia yarn. I have had that pattern in my Ravelry queue since it came out and I really loved it in that yarn! Bonus, it’s FREE!
Fibre Company Canopy Fingering was a new to me base, so I had to grab some to take home with me - I can’t want to work with it!
Some things to note:
The shop is located in a strip mall, right off the main road in Minden. You can’t quite see it from the road, and the name of the shop isn’t on the sign. It does, however, say “Yarn” on the sign, so look for that and you’re at the right place!
I would like to have seen more local products, particularly hand dyed yarns. I love to buy yarn as a souvenir, and I prefer it to be something local!
